Recreation is an important aspect to consider when moving to a new area, especially during a sweltering summer such as this one. Even though many neighborhoods throughout Pooler and Western Chatham county have their own recreation areas, options for recreation become even greater thanks to the West Chatham YMCA being located right in Pooler. The West Chatham YMCA is one of the most active branches in the Savannah region and has an array of programs for children and adults to choose from. Summer will fly by for children and parents, thanks to the programs the YMCA offers for all ages. With a wide variety of affordable membership packages available, there is room for everyone at the West Chatham YMCA. chatham 2
The West Chatham YMCA offers a free babysitting service, known as Child Watch, enabling parents to use the facilities without worrying about finding care for their child, for up to two hours. The schedule for Child Watch is: Mon-Thurs 8:45- 1:00 & 4:30-7:30 pmFri 8:45-12 pm. As expected from the YMCA, there are numerous youth sports programs available, including basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer and gymnastics. There is also a summer swim team for children aged five and older. For adults and teens, martial arts classes are also offered, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The West Chatham YMCA also contains a state-certified child learning center for children six weeks to four years of age. This is a well funded, quality program, with a low child to teacher/assistant ratio, ensuring your child will receive the proper, individualized attention they require. This enables the child to feel at home and comfortable with their caregiver while you are away. The best part is they have fun while in a learning environment! For the summer, the YMCA offers a Summer Day Camp program for children as well. During the school year, the YMCA continues to have kids and parents covered. This branch offers a before and after school program to ensure children are cared for, perfect for children whose parents work long hours.Learn more about the West Chatham YMCA by visiting their website athttp://www.ymcaofcoastalga.org/ymca/west-chatham/west-chatham-branch or by visiting in person at 165 Isaac G.
